Keeping Intimacy Alive When Camming as a Couple

Keeping Intimacy Alive When Camming as a Couple

Camming is more than just logging in and being sexy. Being a cam model means being an entertainer, opening up your life to the world and putting your relationship on display. We are Colby Chambers and Mickey Knox of ColbyKnox on Chaturbate. We have been camming for 10 years, have over 162 thousand followers and own our own production company where we have been putting out weekly videos for nearly a decade.

We live together, work together and, of course, play together. We are very fortunate to be able to spend so much more of our lives together than the typical couple, but it’s not as easy as some would think. It takes work to be in business with your partner, on top of sharing your most intimate moments with the world. After 10 years of camming and performing in front of the camera, we have some tips and tricks on how to manage your relationship, intimacy and sexual pleasure while also working in the adult industry.

Work and play frequently mesh together since our job as broadcasters is to share online our relationship in and out of the bedroom.

MAKE SURE IT IS FUN

Our number-one rule when jumping on cam is to have fun above all else. If you aren’t having fun during your shows, neither are the people watching. Don’t pander to what you think the audience wants or what you have seen other cam couples do. Make sure it is something both of you enjoy. Fans will notice when you aren’t being authentic. Find what works for both you and your partner and the audience will come.

COMMUNICATION. COMMUNICATION. COMMUNICATION.

In your relationship and your work, communication is key. Before either of you jump on cam, it’s important to understand what you are both comfortable with. Have an honest conversation on what you like, what you are open to trying and what you don’t want. It can be easy to get caught up in the moment when you are on cam and thousands of people are watching. You need to remember what you and your partner are comfortable with and respect each other’s boundaries. Know your partner and understand what works for you both.

DEALING WITH JEALOUSY

Jealousy is a very powerful aphrodisiac if you learn how to control it. We both thrive on jealousy as we get to watch each other perform with other people, all while knowing that, at the end of the day, we get to have each other. We invite a lot of models to come perform with us, as we own and operate a studio; however, seeing each other with other partners just helps to reinforce that he is mine, that I get to have him. Jealousy can be very powerful if you learn to use it to your advantage and don’t take it to an angry place. Once all the models go home, we thrive on the anticipation and rush we get when it’s just us two again.

FANS ARE THERE FOR MORE THAN JUST SEX

One important lesson in camming is that you are an entertainer. There are people on the other side of the screen. Listen to them, talk to them and entertain them. You don’t have to jerk off every time you are online. We have done so much fun stuff on cam with our fans. Mickey has built a fence, taken our cam room under our house and cooked dinner, all on cam. We like to think of our cam shows as our very own talk shows. Do what you love with your talk show. Talk to your fans, hear how their day is going and ask them questions. Not everything has to be sexual and fans want to be a part of your life and community.

MAKE TIME FOR JUST YOU TWO

It’s always important to schedule time just for yourselves. We make sure we have time off cam to be intimate with each other, without an audience, lights or a camera. We love to explore new things during sex and cannot wait to share that with our fans on cam. We have discovered new kinks and showcase that in our content. Our art often imitates our life. We take what is going on in our bedroom and in our life, and share it with our fans.

Camming with your partner is so much fun. Working from home, owning your own business, creating your own schedule, and having sex for a living has some great advantages. Setting some important boundaries, both in and outside of the bedroom, is important to make sure you succeed. During Chaturbate’s Health and Wellness week, we spoke with sex expert Dr. Jessica O’Reilly of Sex with Jess about intimacy on and off cam, in a workshop titled “The Business of Sex: How to Keep Intimacy Alive Outside of the Workplace.”

WORK ALWAYS COMES SECOND

No matter how much success or attention you get, your relationship should always come first. There have been times when we weren’t seeing eye-to-eye, we were stressed or we weren’t feeling ourselves — so we didn’t go on cam. If we need to work on our relationship, that comes first. Work and play frequently mesh together since our job as broadcasters is to share online our relationship in and out of the bedroom. As soon as our work starts to affect our relationship, becomes overbearing or knocks the wind out of us, we take a break from making content. We will take a week to update and reinvest in ourselves and our relationship so we can be the best version of ourselves on cam.
