The Pros and Cons of Mobile Streaming

The Pros and Cons of Mobile Streaming

In the adult industry, mobile streaming has continued gaining in popularity. It’s one of those crazes that’s here to stay, which is no surprise, given the endless possibilities new mobile technologies offer us. Now, there’s a growing number of models (and users) who turn to mobile cam shows. Innovative cam sites that implement such on-the-go streaming must strive to offer mobile-friendly interfaces that are easy, intuitive and largely frictionless (ideally, there is no need to download any application). Mobile streaming should be as simple as opening your mobile browser, logging in and starting the show. There are advantages and disadvantages to camming on mobile, however, so before you decide whether to hop on the trend or stay loyal to desktop, let’s break down the pros and the cons.

PROS OF MOBILE STREAMING

Be careful with what you do on cam while streaming outside. Make sure you don’t break any local rules, or terms of use of your cam platform.

Making Money on the Go

Overall, camming is a profession that allows you to make money anytime, anywhere. But the “anywhere” has even more meaning when we are talking about camming from a phone. It doesn’t matter where you are or where you have to go; you can always take your fans with you on a cam show. Imagine streaming from the beach, park or even a different country. You can live out that digital nomad life and enjoy freedom in its full swing. However, you must take care not to run afoul of public indecency laws and be absolutely sure nobody is around who hasn’t consented to seeing you like that or being inadvertently streamed on an adult cam site.

Streaming More Diverse Shows

With more potential scenarios opening up via mobile, you can have more variety in your cam shows. Heading to the mall? Have members help you choose the outfit for your next special show from a private dressing room. Need to go grocery shopping? Take members with you and have some fun around the supermarket aisles, maybe taking special care with those … melons. Or how about going on a romantic date with your fans to a nice restaurant? The options are unlimited. After all, SFW real-life content is wildly popular on non-adult platforms.

Adding the Adrenaline Factor

The coolest thing about mobile streaming is that you can do outdoor shows. And one of the strongest selling points of outdoor shows is the voyeurism experience. You can play around with presenting the illusion of risk, that you might get caught by someone while doing naughty things outside. Don’t actually put yourself in any danger of being seen, just roleplay it once you’re certain that nobody will actually come by, and it’ll be enough to give viewers a good adrenaline rush.

Important note, again: Be careful with what you do on cam while streaming outside. Make sure you don’t break any local rules, or terms of use of your cam platform. Safety always comes first.

CONS OF MOBILE STREAMING

Draining Your Battery and Data Plan

Surviving a whole day out without running out of battery is challenging enough, let alone if you’re adding a mobile cam show on top of it. Though it depends on the type of device you’re using, streaming from your phone can drain your battery fairly fast. Needless to say, a good charging bank will be your ride-or-die friend in these cases. You will also be using a lot of data, so a good unlimited data package and 4G/5G connection to run at an optimum speed are a must.

Having Your Movement Restricted

Depending on the moment or situation, you might find yourself walking down the street, for example, having to hold up your phone. Even though you can find places to lay it on, or rock a gimbal and maybe even have a portable tripod at the ready, odds are that sometimes you will be moving it from place to place manually, which might not be as comfortable as just lying in your bed and not worrying about the camera.

Navigating a Smaller Screen Experience

If you’re streaming from mobile, what users will get on their PCs is a portrait view instead of the full view that webcams provide. The good news is that this does not apply to users watching cams from their phones, in which case the stream will fit the whole screen. You may also have trouble keeping track of chat on mobile, if the display screen is small or the site you’re on doesn’t have a good mobile interface.

MOBILE VS. DESKTOP: WHO WINS?

So then, should you stream from your PC or from your phone? Which option is better? The short answer is, both. Lay your eggs in multiple baskets by combining mobile and desktop streaming and give every user what they want. This way you can always jazz things up and keep your shows interesting for everyone.

If you’re more of a bedroom setting kind of model, that’s OK. Do your regular thing and surprise your viewers from time to time with a mobile cam show to break the routine. You might also attract new users who are exploring mobile cams and who wouldn’t have found your profile otherwise. You have to shoot all your shots! Remember that variety is the spice of life, and how to insert it in your shows, is completely up to you.
