In this issue of XBIZ Cam World, I want to talk about something that is important to both cam models and cam companies: having you attend events. If you have not attended one of the numerous cam-based shows, you are not doing yourself a service.
There are numerous reasons to attend events, be they XBIZ Miami or other industry trade shows. Not only do you get to go on a little vacation in an awesome city, you also get to exchange knowledge with other models. You’ll connect on a deep level and find you have many shared experiences, so there will be an instant connection.
You’ll meet other models that you can lean on when you have times of struggle, and you’ll be plugged into a community that can help with things like beauty tips, camming advice, and professional service recommendations like a good lawyer or accountant…
The bonds you form at the shows will definitely help you to create a very strong circle of influence. You’ll meet other models that you can lean on when you have times of struggle, and you’ll be plugged into a community that can help with things like beauty tips, camming advice, and professional service recommendations like a good lawyer or accountant who knows the industry, etc.
Another huge reason to attend is that you get to meet many of the people from your cam site. I try to go to all of the model-centric events, because I like to meet the models, to hear the struggles they’re having and also hear the things that they like, that we’re doing. It’s invaluable to me to be there to talk to models, and gather their thoughts on our platform.
I know that all of the people in my position with the other companies feel the same way that I do. I can only speak for myself on this, but going to the shows and talking with models is one of the biggest ways for me to get information to bring to our product team for improvements to our site. So if you have suggestions, it’s a perfect time to have your voice heard.
At the shows, you’ll also get a chance to get to know new companies that you may not ever get a chance to interact with. There are companies that can help you drive your own traffic to your page, companies that can help you monetize Snapchat, provide legal protection for your image and sell goods like cameras, lighting and everyone’s favorite sex toys.
All of the companies bring goodies so you can remember who they are. It’s like adult trick-or-treating. Make sure to leave some room in your suitcase for all of the swag you’re going to take home.
Let’s also talk about seminars. Most of the events have seminars that help you learn many new things. There are tips and tricks, best practices, new angles about the industry that you may not have thought of, but can help you to be the best cam model possible. You will also get to ask questions of the presenters in an easy format, so you can walk away with more knowledge than you thought was possible.
It’s an opportunity to network with people high up in companies, people that you won’t get to talk to unless you attend events. I’ve been on panels with CEOs of companies, industry legends and even a couple of mainstream celebrities. Trust me, we have years of knowledge and we genuinely want to share it with you. In this environment, nothing gets lost in text, so you can clearly know what we are trying to convey.
Now, for the most important part … the parties and events. I know how much time models put into their image and look, and how important it is to show off. The parties are epic, to say the least, and are a great chance to let loose and have fun with your new friends. Whether you’re dancing to an exclusive set from a celebrity DJ or partying at a strip club, you’ll definitely have a good time.
So, be sure to talk to your cam company, ask them for the events that they’re attending and many times they will be able to get you a pass or maybe even a discount. Attending industry shows is an experience that you will never forget. What’s better than meeting new friends, partying and learning how to be better? It’s like college, just without the crazy student loans to repay.
