WIA Profile: Kristi Greer

If you regularly go to the adult webmaster shows, you’ve probably run into Kristi Greer, SegPay’s account director.

The affable Greer is considered not just a veteran in the adult processing industry with SegPay, but the credit card biz as a whole. She has worked to help merchant clients on board for quite some time. In a roundabout way of saying it — she is knowledgeable, easy to work with and goal oriented.

The best part of the job is working with the merchants. I get to see so many different businesses and business issues, I find it fascinating.

For the month of August, the WIA Woman of the Month is Segpay's Kristi Greer.

XBIZ: What’s your role at SegPay?

Greer: As an account director, my main role is to bring in new merchants for processing. I explain our services and assist new clients through the on-boarding process. Once implemented I continue to be the main person of contact to support or assist in anyway.

XBIZ: What in your background prepared you for what you are doing now?

Greer: I have worked in the credit card industry for 20-plus years (wait, can that be right?). Prior to SegPay I worked for another IPSP company. And before that I was employed by an accredited credit card counseling company where I counseled consumers on how to consolidate debt, reduce their interest rates and set up payback plans. As part of this service, I would go to issuing banks to negotiate reduced interest rates or eliminate them all together. It was very satisfying to help out people who were in difficult situations.

XBIZ: Who inspires you in this industry?

Greer: No doubt Cathy Beardsley inspires me. I couldn’t ask for a better boss and mentor. She is always on top of any changes in regulations, policies or anything else you name regarding the payment industry. I really learn a lot from her. She started our company from scratch, and to see where it is today is pretty inspiring.

XBIZ: What’s the best part of the job?

Greer: The best part of the job is working with the merchants. I get to see so many different businesses and business issues, I find it fascinating. I also love it when I have been working with someone for a long time and we finally get to meet in person. That putting a face to the name moment is so much fun for me.

XBIZ: What’s a typical workday like?

Greer: I like to get my workout in first thing in the morning and then head to the office. Every morning we do a stand up meeting with our tech support group to discuss new integrations, any issues and updates from the development team. Then it’s off to emails, skype convos, setting up merchants and managing existing business.

XBIZ: Do you have a nickname?

Greer: My nickname is Gucci. That’s all I’ll say ;-)

XBIZ: In your spare time, what do you like to do?

Greer: I still love going to the beach, even though I have lived in Florida for 15 years. It never gets old! I enjoy traveling, music events, cooking and chilling out at home.

Each month, industry news media organization XBIZ spotlights the career accomplishments and outstanding contributions of Women in Adult. WIA profiles offer an intimate look at the professional lives of the industry's most influential female executives.

Before founding VerifyMy, Ryan Shaw was simply looking for an age verification solution for his previous business. The ones he found, however, were too expensive, too difficult to integrate with, or failed to take into account the needs of either the businesses implementing them or the end users who would be required to interact with them.

It's Time to Rock the Vote and Make Your Voice Heard

When I worked to defeat California’s Proposition 60 in 2016, our opposition campaign was outspent nearly 10 to 1. Nevertheless, our community came together and garnered enough support and awareness to defeat that harmful, misguided piece of proposed legislation — by more than a million votes.

Account-to-Account Payments: The New Banking Disruptor?

So much of our industry relies upon Visa and Mastercard to support consumer payments — and with that reliance comes increased scrutiny by both brands. From a compliance perspective, the bar keeps getting raised until it feels like we end up spending half our time making sure we are compliant rather than growing our business.
